Detroit Speed Engineering: One Very Modern Nova

The Pro-Touring muscle car scene has blown up over the past couple years and so has the idea that muscle cars can handle. Detroit Speed Engineering (DSE) is one of the companies that has built its brand around giving old classics modern handling.

Kyle & Stacy Tucker came by the HRE facility in San Diego shortly before the Goodguys Del Mar show in March to tour the factory and visit with sales manager Guy Atherton. DSE is not only one of the top pro-touring muscle car builders and suspension shops in the country, they also campaign some of the fastest autocross and open road race vehicles on the planet. They have been looking for a wheel partner that can match DSE’s level of quality and were blown away when they walked through our in-house manufacturing and finishing facility.

The first of DSE’s cars to feature HRE Wheels was their 1963 Chevy Nova. This car features the DSE Chevy II QUADralink Suspension System along with a fully built Mast Motorsports LS Engine. The model they chose for this particular car is the latest in our three-piece line, the 595RS in a matte gray finish with a polished lip.

The car made its debut at the GG Autocross in Del Mar at the beginning of the month and was quite impressive out on the track. Not only did it perform well but it stood out on the show floor too! We were proud to see the Stacy racing the DSE Chevy II around the autocross course in Del Mar on her new HRE wheels, and can’t wait to see more DSE builds on our product soon.
