HRE Wheels Open House

To celebrate summer we welcomed over 200 fantastic sports cars, exotics and muscle machines to the HRE facility and opened the doors to the factory to show people how our wheels are made

The last weekend of July marked HRE’s annual Open House and car show. We had a fantastic turnout this year that included HRE customers and enthusiasts from all over Southern California. Several of our friends from the performance community setup displays for the event, including Falken Tire, Brembo Brakes, B.B.I., KW Suspension and Group 5 motoring, just to name a few. The car care experts at Mothers provided killer raffle prizes, including several Powerball polishers, wheel cleaning kits, SynWax and more.

We kicked things off bright and early with a variety of cars rolling in, ranging from a Lamborghini Gallardo Superleggera to a 1973 Avanti R3. Rhys Millen and the Red Bull team were kind enough to loan us the RMR Pikes Peak racecar, the PM580, to display in front of the facility – and it was a true show stopper. Team Wu brought out their latest Bullrun ride, an incredible looking Dodge Charger decked out in full police car regalia, complete with a black and white vinyl wrap, police-spec light bar, performance suspension, a supercharger, onboard electronics that included a vertically mounted iPad running Trapster speed trap detection software and a set of custom made forged 22” HRE 993R wheels.

Large groups showed up en masse from San Diego, northern L.A. County and of course Cars and Coffee in Irvine. Other vehicular highlights included a variety of Z06 and ZR-1 Corvettes, a 427 Cobra parked next to an SRT10 Viper, a Lamborghini LP640, Audi R8, Porsche GT3 RS and Group 5 Motoring’s wicked looking flat black Nissan GT-R on HRE P40 Monobloks. B.B.I. brought out several turbocharged Porsches, all of which looked incredible with pumped-up motors, hammered suspension and HRE wheels.

The main point in organizing the event was to give enthusiasts a peak behind the curtain at what makes HRE Wheels so special and unique. Throughout the day, President Alan Peltier was giving guided tours of the entire facility and demonstrating how an HRE wheel is created from engineering and design all the way through manufacturing, finishing and quality control. We were shocked and very pleased when the original plan of giving two tours was scrapped due increased demand and we convinced Alan to give four! Overall people seemed impressed that we were willing to share so much information on the design and manufacturing process, but the reality is we are proud to share our innovations – it helps explain why our wheels are the best in the world!

A big thanks to everybody who helped make this event happen and we hope to see more of you folks next year!
