Cranking Up The Boost: The Perfect Supra

The Toyota Supra is one of most respected Japanese performance cars ever built. Whether it's the bulletproof 2JZ powerplant, or the timeless styling, Supras are recognized for being a perfect platform to create a serious performance machine.

Joshua Michael, also known as "MIX" on Supraforums.com, has been tuning his 1995 Supra for quite a while. He started his search for the car in 2007 and finished up the complete build in September 2010 with help from a variety of shops and Supra experts. His original goal was to build a car that could handle 1000 - 1100 horsepower, but after some research decided to build the car to a far more "streetable" 850 horsepower. After building an extensive parts list, the car was sent down from Canada to a shop in Austin, Texas called Performance Motorsport where the 5 month build process began.

It took quite a bit of work to get together all of the hard to find parts from Japan, but once everything had arrived the build was under way. While the motor work and suspension was being put together, Joshua was able to find his idea of the perfect wheel for the car through AutoBanh Motorsports in Houston. The wheels he selected were HRE 893R's with brushed centers and polished lips measuring 19x9.5 in the front and 19x11 in the rear. This combination allowed for plenty of traction to put down the dyno proven 858 horsepower (see video).
