Rum Bum Racing and Dave Briggs Enjoy Successful Weekend

August 13th, 2013

Dave Briggs has now won back-to-back races, following his outstanding performance at Round 5 of the Driftmania Canadian Championship at St. Croix this past weekend. Sporting HRE forged race wheels, his S14 Nissan 240SX beat out Francis Tasse for the top podium spot and a cool $10,000 grand prize.

Meanwhile in Wisconsin, Rum Bum Racing captured their 14th overall Continental Tire Sports Car Challenge win of the season in dramatic fashion; claiming 1st place at Road America, their second consecutive victory at the famed race track. Rum Bum Racing Crew Chief Joe Varde gambled when he instructed his second stint driver, Matt Plumb, to stay out of the pits and conserve fuel.

The strategy paid dividends as the number one car driven by Spencer Pumpelly pulled into the pits to refuel, making Plumb the new race leader. With just four minutes remaining, Plumb masterfully conserved fuel and guided the #13 Porsche 997 Carrera to the finish line, securing first place and also extending the team lead in the championship standings to a commanding 54 points.

Fall-Line Motorsports had some unfortunate luck at Road America with refueling, however, all three BMW M3 cars finished in the top-10 for some crucial points in the CTSCC championship – the #46 car finished 5th, #48 took 7th and the #45 car finished 10th.

Both teams will be in action this weekend at the Kansas Speedway for the SFP Grand Prix.
